Protocols & hardware
Speaks the buses your ECUs speak.
AutoST works with the interfaces that are already on your bench and the protocols your ECUs actually use, from classic CAN to automotive Ethernet.
In short
AutoST supports CAN and CAN FD with ISO-TP (ISO 15765), UDS (ISO 14229), XCP and CCP calibration discovery, DoIP (ISO 13400) and SOME/IP including service discovery. The Carbyne bench agent runs on Windows and Linux and works with SocketCAN (Linux), Vector XL (Windows) and comma.ai Panda interfaces, with configurable bitrate, CAN FD data bitrate and sample point.
Compatibility
Adapters and protocols
The bench agent auto-detects a connected interface, or you can pick one explicitly.
| Adapter | OS | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SocketCAN | Linux | Any CAN interface with a Linux driver, including PEAK and Kvaser |
| Vector XL | Windows | Vector VN interfaces via the XL API |
| comma.ai Panda | Windows, Linux | Low-cost CAN and CAN FD interface |
| Auto-detect | Windows, Linux | AutoST finds the connected interface |
| Protocol | Standard | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| CAN / CAN FD | ISO 11898 | The vehicle bus, classic and flexible data rate |
| ISO-TP | ISO 15765 | Segmented transport for UDS over CAN |
| UDS | ISO 14229 | Diagnostics: sessions, services, DIDs, routines, 0x27 |
| XCP / CCP | ASAM | Calibration interface discovery |
| DoIP | ISO 13400 | UDS over IP and vehicle discovery |
| SOME/IP | AUTOSAR | Service discovery and method mapping |
Bitrate and timing
Tuned to your bus
Bitrate, CAN FD data bitrate and sample point are all configurable, so AutoST matches the timing of the bus you are testing instead of forcing a default.
PEAK and Kvaser interfaces work through their SocketCAN drivers on Linux. If you are unsure whether your setup is supported, a quick call will sort it out.
- Configurable bitrate and sample point
- Classic CAN and CAN FD
- PEAK and Kvaser via SocketCAN on Linux
- Agent on Windows and Linux
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which CAN interfaces are supported?
SocketCAN on Linux (which covers many interfaces including PEAK and Kvaser), Vector XL on Windows, and the comma.ai Panda on both. The agent can also auto-detect a connected interface.
Do you support automotive Ethernet?
Yes, through DoIP (ISO 13400) for UDS over IP and SOME/IP for service discovery.
